Marathon runner

Matt Brewer, from Burgess Hill, ran the Brighton half marathon and raised £1100 for QVH.

“I wanted to raise money for the QVH charity as my good friend Nick is a patient. He suffered really severe burns as the result of an accident last year and was in hospital for a couple of months.

“He’s making good progress and wouldn’t be where he is now if it wasn’t for the
expert treatment and care he received at QVH. I wanted to do something to help the people who helped him.

“It was a really fun day and it’s the fifth year I’ve done a sponsored event.

“I raised the money through my page on the Just Giving website. I already had it set up from previous events and it’s really easy to do. I contacted Nick’s family and friends and mutual friends and asked them for sponsorship. I was also sponsored by my colleagues. My company is really supportive of staff who do things for charity and run a scheme where they will match any donations or sponsorship raised by colleagues.”
