East Grinstead customers raise £6,000 for Queen Victoria Hospital Charity

Staff from Queen Victoria Hospital (QVH) recently visited the Sainsbury’s store in East Grinstead to thank staff for their support during the year long partnership that saw the hospital’s charity receive £6,190 in donations from customers.

Sainsbury’s Store Manager, Liz Atwell said, “QVH Charity was picked as the Charity of the Year by our colleagues and customers.  Sainsbury’s have been delighted that we could help support such a wonderful and much loved hospital.   We would like to thank all our customers, colleagues and the QVH hospital volunteers and staff for their help in raising this fantastic amount.

The charity supports the hospital with grants for items that are above and beyond what the NHS can fund including medical equipment, improving patient wards and waiting rooms and medical research to find treatments.

Mr Ruben Kannan, a Consultant Plastic Surgeon from QVH who has benefitted from recent funding from QVH Charity said, “Thanks to the unending efforts of our hospital charity we have now purchased and are using the most advanced nerve monitor in the world for facial palsy as well as head and neck cancer patients. This allows QVH surgeons’ like me to treat complex facial conditions like nowhere else in the country.”

If you would like to donate to help the charity do even more, please make cheques payable to ‘QVH Charity’ and post to QVH Charity, Queen Victoria Hospital, Holtye Road, East Grinstead RH19 3DZ, or find out more about other ways to get involved on  www.supportqvh.org
