Radiology runners complete 10k challenge for QVH Charity
Monday 23rd September 2024
Two members of staff from Queen Victoria Hospital’s radiology team, Nicola and Suzie, recently took on a 10k running challenge to raise essential funds for QVH Charity.
The lovely ladies completed the East Grinstead 10K Andy Ripley Memorial Run and surpassed their original £500 fundraising target to achieve a fantastic £720!
Nicola and Suzie had originally started running together last year as a means of keeping fit and socialising, however this has now grown into them completing their own running challenge. They are aiming to complete 25 park runs this year, and completing a 10km event was also one of their main goals.
Nicola said:
“We did it! More importantly, we got around without the need of the services from our colleagues. We both really enjoyed the race, atmosphere and public support, and the sun was even shining. Everyone has been really generous and we’re so pleased so have smashed our target!”
Camilla Lane, Head of Fundraising and Voluntary Services said:
‘Huge thank you to Nicola and Suzie for taking part in this local event and for their fantastic fundraising. They’ve absolutely exceeded their initial target which is amazing! Staff see first-hand the difference donations make to patients as well as supporting wellbeing initiatives for hardworking colleagues, so it’s incredibly heart-warming when staff choose to get involved in fundraising for our hospital charity. The funds they’ve raised will go on to make our hospital even better, funding the things that the NHS is not able to. ”
Thank you so much Nicola and Suzie, keep on running!
